The photos were taken in the late 1940s during a Sint Nicolaas festival in Amersfoort, which is traditionally held on December 5th in the Netherlands. Included among shots of a large crowd moving through the streets, following a man dressed as Sint Nicolaas, is a photo of Henri Nouwen dressed-up as Zwarte Piet (Black Pete).

Also included on the page are photos of friends, including Ben Kuypers [P8483, right] conversing at the same party.

Taken during the late 1940s the photos include Henri Nouwen on a boat; Henri Nouwen in a portrait wearing his Boy Scout uniform; people, possibly including Henri Nouwen, dressed-up as Zwarte Piet (Black Pete) during a Sint Nicolaas festival in Amersfoort; and Henri Nouwen at the minor seminary in Apeldoorn, Netherlands in 1949. The annotations on the page read: "1949" and "Op toren bij [struck out] v Seminarie Apeldoorn".
