File contains photographs of Canadian musicians, many of which are signed, and most of which are not dated: S. C. Eckhardt-Gramatté with string quartet including Peggie Sampson and Victor Feldbrill; Herman Geiger-Torel; Irene Jessner; Greta Kraus; Sir Ernest MacMillan; Lois Marshall (2 photographs); Oskar Morawetz; Charles Peaker; and Redferne Hollinshead.

File contains an album of snapshots that includes photographs of England and Italy (1925-1929); New York (1929); and, Banff (1931).

Scrapbook compiled by Milton Blankstein

File consists of a scrapbook compiled by the Milton Blankstein (later, Blackstone), consisting of newspaper clippings of reviews and press notices, photographs, and programs relating to his career in New York City, Toronto, and other Canadian cities. The scrapbook includes a signed photograph of Eugène Ysaÿe and and Boris Hambourg (dated in Toronto, 1918).

File contains photographs, nomination letters, introductory speeches, newspaper clippings, programs, and correspondence relating to John Beckwith’s awards and honours, including: Diplôme d’honneur (1996); an honorary doctorate from Queen’s University (1998); an honorary doctorate from Victoria University (1999); 80th birthday celebrations at the Faculty of Music, University of Toronto (2007); Lauréat du Prix Amis de la musique canadienne (2010); Friends of Canadian Music Award (2011); the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal (2013); Arts & Letters Award (2013); and Distinguished Fine Arts Alumni award from Oak Bay High School (2015).

Opera school

File contains programs, photographs, and some correspondence regarding the Opera School at the Faculty of Music.

Luigi von Kunits

File consists of a photograph of Luigi von Kunits by the Van Eeden Studio (Toronto) and a photograph of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra with von Kunits conducting (ca. 1923-1931). The file also contains the following score:

  • Souvenir de Moscou : op. 6 : for violin and piano by Henri Wieniawski (Braunschweig: Henry Litolff's Verlag, [191-?]), with annotations and autograph by Kunits
  • Kunits' cadenza to Brahms' Violin Concerto, op. 77 (handwritten, "property of [Eugene] Kash")
  • Popular Songs : transcription by Kunits (containing "Scenes that are brightest"from Maritana by W.V. Wallace, transcribed for [solo violin?] and piano).

Obituaries and other family documents

File contains an undated manuscript list of students with some addresses and telephone numbers; obituary notices for Dr. Daniel Garcia Guerrero; a letter from Lily Wilson; and [probably her] translation of Boyd Neel's Alberto Guerrero obituary. File aso contains portraits of Alberto Guerrero, photographs of Myrtle Rose Guerrero and of Melisande Guerrero, and unidentified photos.

File consists of photocopies; letters from Maureen Nevins regarding permissions for use in Schabas' book.

Photographs of non-Canadian musicians

File contains autographed photographs of the following European musicians: Malwine Brée, Franz Léhar, Theodor Leschetizky, I. J. Paderewski, Hans Pfitzner, and Victoria de los Angeles. File also contains two autographed promotional photographs taken by Eric Hayes of the Indian sitarist Ravi Shankar. Shankar's photographs are not dated.

Gli Uccelli : set and costume designs

File contains a set design and five costume designs from the ballet Gli Ucelli (The Birds) by Ottorino Respighi from two different performances: Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1937 (set design) and at Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Italy in 1951 (costume designs). File also includes a list of Benois's designs for the latter production, with those included in the collection marked.

Collier quintet : photographs

File includes proofs of the Collier quintet members circa 1958, and a photograph of Ron Hughes, Rob McConnell, Ted Roderman and Collier in a recording session at Hallmark studios, May 1963.

File includes public relations, reviews, programme notes and pictures of Collier and his contemporaries, including Gordon Delamont, Duke Ellington, Bruno Gerussi, Gwendolyn MacEwen, Norman Symonds as well as members of the Collier quintet and octet. File 1 contains 2 photographs taken by Collier for his mother (1950). File 5 contains 1 photograph of Collier conducting at Humber College. File 1 contains some material from the early 1960s.

"The music of Duke Ellington" lecture series at Humber college : pictures of Duke Ellington and his band members

File contains pictures taken from various magazines and mounted according to big band instrumentation. File includes Collier's notes (6 p.) and an article on Ellington's bassists, and publicity concerning Collier and Humber College's concert "A tribute to Duke Ellington" (1978) at the Toronto spring festival of the arts.

The Kitsilano boys band and Ron Collier : photo album

File contains photographs, newspaper clippings, post cards and ephemera. File includes photographs of Collier's family, the K.B.B., Collier's early professional activities, Gordon Delamont and Duke Ellington. File also contains Collier's diary during the K.B.B.'s European tour in 1950 (about 200 p.).

Kitsilano boys band reunion : photographs

File includes photograph of the Coleman miners band at the Calgary stampede (1942), the Jack Smith orchestra (October 1946), 2 members of the K.B.B. and Collier (196-?) and the Ron Neil Boptet (late 1950s or 60s?).
