2020-2021 concert season

Series consists of programs and recordings of events hosted by the Faculty of Music during the 2020-2021 concert season including faculty, student, and guest artists as well as ongoing concert series and faculty ensembles. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, none of these events occurred in person to a live audience. Some were pre-recorded and others were live-streamed from one of the Faculty's two concert halls, Walter Hall and MacMillan Theatre.

2019-2020 concert season

Series consists of programs and recordings of events hosted by the Faculty of Music during the 2019-2020 concert season including faculty, student, and guest artists as well as ongoing concert series and faculty ensembles. In-person concerts at the Faculty of Music ended on March 13, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Series consists of recordings of concerts that took place at Gallery 345. Concerts included "The Art of Piano" series and "Jazz at the Gallery" series as well as CD release concerts, New Music Concerts (NMC) fundraisers, Arraymusic concerts, and other standalone performances.

Performances

Series consists of records pertaining to the performance of Michael Colgrass' compositions, including programs from concerts that Colgrass also attended; program notes written by Colgrass; recordings, including many premiere performances; and reviews of performances.

Musicians' promotional recordings

Series consists of compact disc recordings from performers at Gallery 345 that were shared with and collected by Edward Epstein as part of the promotional material for the venue. Some recordings are autographed by the performers. Recordings including self-released albums, commercial releases, and unpublished recordings.

2018-2019 concert season

Series consists of programs and recordings of events hosted by the Faculty of Music during the 2018-2019 concert season including faculty, student, and guest artists as well as ongoing concert series and faculty ensembles.

Recordings

Series consists of recordings of performances conducted by Victor Feldbrill, including symphony orchestras that he conducted or guest-conducted. These recordings include performances in Canada and overseas, including his tenure at the Tokyo University of the Arts and other guest appearances throughout Japan, performances in the United Kingdom, the Philippines, China, and the Czech Republic. Many performances included new Canadian compositions.

Series consists of programs and recordings of events hosted by the Faculty of Music during the 2017-2018 concert season including faculty, student, and guest artists as well as ongoing concert series and faculty ensembles.

Series consists of recordings of performances of John Beckwith's compositions and arrangements and recordings of interviews, lectures, and other events by, or featuring, Beckwith.

Recordings

Series consists of audio and video recordings of performances by Derek Holman and the choirs that he conducted (including the Choir of Grace Church-on-the-hill, Church of St. Simon the Apostle, and the Canadian Children’s Opera Chorus), and recordings of performances of Derek Holman’s compositions.

Concerts

Series consists of materials produced by the Aldeburgh Connection for each of their concerts, including the Sunday Afternoon Concert Series, held at Walter Hall, Faculty of Music, University of Toronto (1982-2013); the Recital Series at the Glenn Gould Studio, Toronto (1993-2013); the Discovery Series (also called the Young Artists Series), held at Walter Hall (1998-2011); the Bayfield Festival of Song (2007-2012); and various concerts performed on tour in North America and Great Britain. Each file contains the records created and used in the production of the concert, including promotional materials (programs, posters, and pamphlets); correspondence with musicians, sponsors, and venues; newspaper clippings of concert reviews; contracts with performers and venues; research notes; narrative scripts for the Sunday Afternoon Concert Series; scores annotated by Stephen Ralls and Bruce Ubukata; arrangements and transpositions of songs; stage, set, and lighting designs; subscriber lists; and ticket sales records.

Series consists of programs and recordings of events hosted by the Faculty of Music during the 2013-2014 concert season including faculty, student, and guest artists as well as ongoing concert series and faculty ensembles.

Recordings

Series contains audio recordings of Toronto performances, performances by Toronto musicians, or performances of pieces by Toronto composers.

Correspondence

Series consists of correspondence with composers, musicians, and friends, including Murray and Dorothea Adaskin, Elizabeth Bailey, Michael Colgrass, Barbara Croall, Srul Irving Glick, Chris Paul Herman, Lothar Klein, Gary Kulesha, Arie and Rachel Lipsky, Andrew MacDonald, Alex Pauk, Brent Straughan, George Szell, David Wilson, and Pinchas Zukerman. Correspondence includes enclosed photographs from Murray Adaskin from a visit related to Adaskin's convocation address at Brock University (October 21, 2000) and from Arie Lipsky relating to their Max Bruch project.

Series also includes correspondence and notes relating to Israelievitch's proposed and completed recording projects, including correspondence with CBC, Opening Day Recordings, Dorian, Atma, and Fleur de son Classics, Ltd. (including various recordings and edits from Israelievitch's Solo Suite CD released in 2003).

Series also includes notes and schedules relating to the "Bach Marathon" that Jacques Israelievitch participated in (March 3, 1985), and repertoire lists for Toronto Symphony Orchestra and Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra auditions.

Performance records

Series contains programs from concerts that Greta Kraus performed in or attended, lecture notes on the topic of "the art of singing", newspaper clippings relating to Kraus or her family, and audio recordings of three concerts. The programs include the memorial tribute to Greta Kraus in Walter Hall (May 8, 1998) and "The Greta Kraus Schubertiad" produced by the Aldeburgh Connection (May 9, 2006 at the Glenn Gould Studio). Recordings include the memorial tribute; a concert produced by the Aldeburgh Connection ("Greta's Choice, January 16, 1994); and, "Celebrating Greta Kraus" (September 23, 1993). The series also contains a summary of her principal career dates, and two articles written by Thomas Hathaway: "Greta Kraus: 'A Crazy Career - Upside Down from A to Z'" and "What is a Song, How do You Sing it and What is Tradition all About?: Lois Marshall and Greta Kraus on Music-Making."

Series consists of recordings of Vic Centro on accordion and piano, including a dub of an episode of the radio show "As Night Falls" on KSUI-FM, hosted by John Rapson, featuring Vic Centro, and a demo master tape of Vic Centro, including performances of "Perdido," "Moonlight serenade," "Wave," "Unforgettable," "Spanish eyes," "I wanna be around," and "Paper moon."

Audio and video recordings

Series consists of audio and video recordings of performances by Ron Collier and of compositions and arrangements by Collier. The series includes audio cassettes from the Duke Ellington Society that were issued to its members; audio recordings of Collier's lectures on Ellington at Humber College (1980s); performances by the Ron Collier Quintet and the Ron Collier Tentet; and records from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) radio transcription service of performances by Collier, his groups, and his compositions and arrangements.

Articles and lectures

Series consists of drafts, research notes, and correspondence pertaining to articles and lectures written and delivered by John Stratton on historical vocal recordings and vocalists. Series also includes a few clippings of articles written about Stratton, his record collection, and his contributions to record collecting, research, and re-releases.

Series consists of recordings of events hosted by the Faculty of Music during the 1998-1999 concert season including faculty, student, and guest artists as well as ongoing concert series and faculty ensembles.

Audio recordings

Series consists of audio recordings of works by Talivaldis Kenins, including some recordings of performances conducted by Kenins and some world premieres. Many of the recordings were made for CBC broadcast. Others were performed at the University of Toronto. The series also includes three audio cassettes from a 1996 program on CJRT-FM that featured an interview with Kenins interspersed with recordings of his compositions, and recordings of Kenins' son George Juris Kenins performing the cello.

Interviews conducted by Ezra Schabas

Series consists of taped recordings of interviews conducted by Ezra Schabas as part of his research for his book on Sir Ernest MacMillan. Series also includes some recordings of interviews (not conducted by Schabas) with Sir Ernest MacMillan, and a recording of a performance by the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, conducted by MacMillan.
