Awards and honours

Series consists of materials relating to awards and honours received by Greta Kraus, including the Toronto Arts Award (1990), the Order of Ontario (1991), and the Order of Canada (1993). Materials include correspondence, programs, newspaper clippings and other press releases, and photographs. The series also includes two VHS tapes with recordings of the Order of Ontario ceremony (May 8, 1991) and the Toronto Arts Awards (August 15, 1990).

The fonds contains manuscript scores and parts by Derek Holman, including original compositions, arrangements and realizations, juvenilia, and sketch materials; audio and video recordings of Holman’s compositions and performances; papers and photographs from Holman’s work with various choirs and churches (including at the University of London, University of Toronto, University of Trinity College, Bishop-Strachan, Royal School of Church Music, St. Simon’s, Concord Singers, Croydon Bach Society, Grace Church-on-the-Hill, and the Canadian Children’s Opera Company); and, Holman’s personal papers, including awards, certificates, degrees, and notebooks.

File includes photographs of Derek Holman conducting various choirs, including the Canadian Children's Opera Chorus, Croydon Parish Church Choir, the Cathedral Organists' Association at Westminster Abbey, St. Simon's Church Choir and with various friends and colleagues, including Robertson Davies, and photographs of the Truro School Prefectorial Staff (including Holman, 1948), and Holman from the University of Trinity College convocation (2000) when he received an honorary Doctor of Sacred Letters.

Fonds consists of the administrative records of New Music Concerts (NMC), from its first concert in 1972 to 2020. Records consist of administrative and financial records, including correspondence with composers, performers, and concert venues, budgets, grant applications, and board meeting minutes; concert planning documents, including touring records; and promotion and publicity documents, including programs, brochures, posters, reviews, advertisements, and press releases. The fonds also includes select audio and video recordings of NMC concerts.

Photographs

Series consists of professional portraits of Michael Colgrass, as well as photographs from workshops, concerts, and rehearsals, and family photographs. Series includes photographs of Colgrass in Stuttgart when he was a timpanist with the Seventh Army Symphony Orchestra (1955-1956); from his time in Copenhagen for the performance of his Rhapsodic Fantasy by the Danish Radio Orchestra conducted by Tamas Vetö (1965); from his Fort Wayne Residency (1972); of his rehearsals with the Canadian Brass for Flashbacks (1979); from a production of Colgrass' "Something's gonna happen" at Duggan Jr. High School in Edmonton, Alberta (1982); from rehearsals of Chaconne with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra conducted by Andrew Davis (1984); neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) workshops, particularly at the Dynamic Learning Center at NLPU in Santa Cruz, California (1987); workshop at University of New Mexico (1988); at Longmeadow High School and Springfield Public School in Massachusetts (1992); University of Manitoba workshop (1997); and Winona Drive School workshop (1999).
