Records relating to member organizations, commissions and committees

Series consists of records, 1970-2009, including minutes, correspondence, constitutions, reports, recognition forms, resource material and other records generated by member organizations, commissions, clubs and committees, as well as files of the VUSAC President; bodies include the Bob Revue, Acta Victoriana, Athletic Union, Pub Board, Budget Review Committee, Publications Management Board, Wymilwood House Committee, and Productions Commission (overseeing theatre and other shows).

Records of the Board of Regents

Series consists of 5 sub-series that include the records created by the Board of Regents (minutes, reports, notes) and its preceding entity, the Victoria College Board as well as the records of the Chairman of the Board and the Secretary of the Board. Also contains records received by the Board including correspondence and reports and records related to arbitration related to the move from Cobourg to Toronto.

Correspondence

Series consists of personal correspondence as well as official correspondence of the Principal of Emmanuel College and letters of tribute to Alfred Gandier.

Canadian Society for Renaissance Studies

Series consists of records of the Seiziémistes Canadiens meetings ; the CSRS Annual General Meetings and executive meetings including minutes and agendas ; the Canadian Federation for the Humanities records ; CSRS newsletters and bulletins ; financial records ; records from the annual conference ; membership records ; correspondence ; directories ; records of the Secretary-Treasurer and the President, as well as other Renaissance associations' records.

Records related to real estate

Series consists of correspondence, leases and other legal agreements, court documents, surveys, deeds, mortgage records, sketches, financial and other records, 1871-2009, relating to the administering of properties owned by Victoria and not used for academic purposes, and for maintaining Victoria's interest in property developments which affected the University. The records relate to insurance, including liability, and the planning and development, management and leasing, acquisition and sales of property, taxes, property disputes and litigation.

The architectural plans and drawings have been separated into Sub-Series 1.

The Bursar's responsibilities with regard to property were initially the insurance of buildings and their contents. However, as the
need for regular income became more urgent and evident, and as the University expanded and required more buildings, the Bursar's work likewise increased. The Bursar became responsible for the legal negotiations and accounting over purchases, sales and leases; and the supervision and funding of alterations and renovations and the construction of new buildings. Along with this the Bursar dealt with property tax as the University was only exempt from this in respect to its property used for academic purposes.

Series consists of correspondence, studies, reports, appraisals, financial administration, agreements, plans, specifications and other records relating to the planning, expansion, renovating, maintenance, repair and construction work on campus buildings and grounds, as well as the establishment and funding of Victoria Theatre, the Isabel Bader Theatre, and the Vic Tennis Club.

Correspondence/subject files

Series consists of the subject and correspondence files of the Registrar and the Associate Registrar and cover the main activities of the office such as providing services to students, planning and organizing events including convocations and installations, administering scholarships and awards as well as acting as secretary to the Senate. The series is broken down into the following sub-series:

Minutes

Series consists of General Meeting minutes, 1935-1985, 1988, 1989, 1994-1997; and Executive minutes, 1927-1985, 1988-1990, 1994-1999. Also includes lists of executive officers and committee chairmen, 1964-1989.

General/Correspondence files

Series consists of general files containing incoming and outgoing correspondence (including correspondence with Victoria University Officers), reports and other records concerning a wide range of activities, including matters involving individual students, 1948-1990.

Records of the Friends of the Library

Series includes minutes (including Executive), 1991-2011; correspondence, catalogues, promotional material including invitations, photographs, notes, membership and other records, 1992-2009, re diverse events and activities staged and/or promoted by the Friends, including exhibits, receptions, presentations, lectures, auctions, visits, screenings, tours, festivals, discussions, readings, and appraisals - speakers have included writers, artists, scientists and historians; also includes correspondence, reports, promotional material, minutes, notes, financial and other records re the annual book sale, 1992-2006

Series consists of annual reports (incomplete), 1898-2003; reports (including those to Victoria University bodies), questionnaires, evaluations, manuals, newsletters, statistics, occasional papers, policies and statements on acquisitions, public service, facilities and other areas of activity, 1878-2006.

Acquisition records

Series consists of acquisition records, a list of theological books donated, loans record, acknowledgment letters to donors and other records related to gifts and donations to the library.

Subject/Correspondence files of the librarian

Series consists of subject/correspondence files of the Librarian on subjects such as exhibitions, publishing and publications, building renovations, bequests, outreach, collections, archives, acquisitions, automation, professional associations, the Toronto School of Theology and Funds, 1877-2008. Also contains material relating to the coat of arms of Victoria University, 1922-1968.

Correspondence

Series consists of incoming and outgoing correspondence of the Librarian relating to loans (including those to clergy), acquisitions, ordering publications, exhibitions, archives, staff, CRRS, security, funding, outreach, Physical Plant, and other subjects.

Series consists of various correspondence, 1836-1935, including an autographed letter from John A. Macdonald to Dr. Potts, correspondence on the McKenzie Rebellion, and various unidentified letters.

Committees

Series consists of records relating to committees, 1890–1904, inluding the Board of Regents, committee on the Jubilee, and the Executive Committee meeting

Collections management

Series consists of records relating to library and art/object collections at Victoria University, and information on personnel files, 1844-1943.

University administration

Series consists of records relating to the general administration of the university, 1836-1923, including correspondence, reports, and the original draft of the Charter of Upper Canada Academy.
