Trinity College Tennis Club fonds

  • CA OTTCA F2197
  • Fonds
  • 1941-2017

The Trinity College Tennis Club began as the St. Hilda's Tennis Club around 1940. Sometime later (1950-52) it became known as the Trinity Grads Tennis Club (membership dependent on being a graduate of any university). In 1962 it became the St. George Tennis Club, opening up membership to all interested players. About 1976 the name was changed again to the Trinity College Tennis Club. There were originally five courts; two were lost in 1960 when St. Hilda's expanded. In 2012, the courts were closed due to the construction of the Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport. In 2016, the Club was advised that Trinity College would not re-open the courts. Despite lengthy negotiations between the Club, Trinity College, and the City, the final AGM was held on September 17, 2017.

Architectural Records Collection

  • CA OTTCA F1029
  • Collection
  • 1857 - 2008

Architectural records are plans, drawings, blueprints, or other graphic or visual documents used in the
design and construction of buildings, landscapes, or other manmade objects. Architectural records are the
result of a lengthy process of gathering and refining data in order to prepare a design and produce final
construction drawings and plans. Using surveys of the construction site, the architect produces rough
sketches and diagrams of the proposed building. Preliminary drawings are then prepared and revised. The
final construction drawings include minute details about size, scale, structural systems, electrical wiring,
plumbing, heating, and air conditioning systems, as well as interior and exterior finishes. The final plans,
prepared by a photochemical process, might be reproduced several times, and might be revised as
construction progresses.
The architectural records in this finding aid are listed chronologically, by series number, name of project,
name of architect/architectural firm, and number of items. They have been arranged chronologically,
according to date of building project. Each project constitutes a records subseries. Each subseries has
been described according to name of building project, name of architect/architectural firm, and date span.
Within each subseries, the records divide themselves into files according to type of drawing, such as
sketches, mechanical plans, or detailed drawings. The architect's original organization and system of
numbering has been maintained. When this information has been unavailable, the records have been
organized by date and subject.

St Hilda's Alumnae Association/St Hilda's College Council

  • CA OTTCA F2142
  • Fonds
  • 1888-2007

This fonds is largely devoted to the minutes of the semi-annual and annual meetings of the St Hilda’s College Alumnae Association (SHCAA) and the finances of the association as well as minutes of its executive committee meetings. The reports in the minutes include details of the various social activities of the SHCAA and its relationships with other organizations (eg, Canadian Federation of University Women, Local Council of Women and several charitable groups). Finally the fonds has an eclectic mix of material relating to various activities of the SHCAA and to some graduates of the College.

Much of the early material suffered considerable water damage at some point in the past: some had to be discarded and other material was photocopied and then discarded. In consequence there are gaps in the early activities of the association. Later material arrived intermittently and there are no minutes for the years 1986/7-1995/6.
