Contract

Series consists of one photocopy of a three-page contract between the Ontario Department of Education and the Temiskaming and Northern Ontario Railway Commission to establish a new railway car school along this rail line, dated 1938.

Contract for Janitorial Services

File contains a handwritten contract between the trustees of the Watford Public School and Thomas Malone for janitorial services in 1900. Duties included general care of the school and its grounds, removing snow and ice during the winter, and ensuring an adequate supply of wood and attending to the school's furnace.

Copy of Testimonials

File contains a copy of testimonials given between 1861 and 1868, which assert the fitness of John Seath for the position of Headmaster at Brampton Grammar School.

Correspondence

Series contains four files of correspondence related to the railway car schools. This correspondence includes letters between the Canadian National Railways, the Ontario Department of Education, and individual car school teachers, as well as internal interdepartmental correspondence. This correspondence addresses topics such as the establishment, management, and operation of the railway car schools.

Each file has been arranged into sets of correspondence, as follows:

Cutting

File contains an accordion book with increasingly complex designs cut from glossy paper pasted onto the pages. The book also contains a note from Isabel Harris to George Tait dated December 14, 1956, discussing kindergarten training and the method of cutting used to make the designs.

File contains a High School Entrance Certificate issued to Dora Woods on July 6, 1935.

File contains one hardcover book with increasingly complex designs drawn on graph paper, created by Isabel Harris while she was a student Kindergartener.

Duties of Janitor for Watford Public School for 1875

File contains a page listing the duties assigned to the janitor at the Watford Public School in 1875. Duties include lighting fires to warm the classrooms and removing ashes from the stoves, ensuring an adequate supply of wood, sweeping, dusting, and scrubbing the privies.

File contains assorted documents related to the early operation of the Farm Radio Forum, including correspondence, meeting agendas and minutes, budget reports, lists of available grants, registration forms, survey findings, promotional materials, newsletters, and broadcast programs and suggestions for the recreation period.

File contains an application for a teaching position submitted by Eliza Carroll on behalf of her daughter Eliza Jane to the trustees of the Watford Public School in 1874.

File contains a teaching contract between Elsie A. Sutherland and the Public School Board of the Village of Watford, signed November 9, 1888.

Emily A. Hawken

File contains two teaching contracts between Emily A. Hawken and the Public School Board of the Village of Watford, signed January 1, 1891 and December 16, 1893.

File contains research records relating to the operation of the Farm Radio Forum until 1945. These records include notes on folk schools and other pre-farm radio adult education experiments, correspondence, lists of published articles on the Farm Radio Forum, transcripts from broadcasts, memoranda, farm forum registration forms, meeting minutes, lists of farm forum topics, reports, lists of farm forum secretaries, budgets, newsletters, and farm forum study materials.

File also contains correspondence produced in the late 1960s.

Records include conference notes, reports, statistics, budgets, meeting notes, memoranda, questionnaire summaries, recommendations, a copy of the 1955 Farm Radio Forum constitution, and resolutions made at the 1956 conference.
