Visit of Jean Vanier - October 19, 1990

File consists of schedule of events and official program for Jean Vanier's visit to L'Arche Daybreak. Includes a transcript of Nouwen's welcoming address and a copy of a speech made by Jeanne Sauvé upon the "Presentation of the Insignia of the Companion of the Order of Canada to Jean Vanier."

Visit of Jean Vanier - December 15 - 17, 1991

File consists of correspondence and other material regarding a visit by Jean Vanier to L'Arche Daybreak to reflect on Nouwen's ministry and to help Nouwen's discernment for the next five years. Includes Jean Vanier's original fax and a copy to Nouwen (in French) telling Nouwen of the visit and a two English translations. Includes a detailed letter to Vanier from Nouwen in anticipation of his visit and a letter of reflection that was sent to members of Vanier's accompaniment team. Includes several memos sent to members of Daybreak regarding the event and several copies of schedules. Includes letters and responses from many of the areas spiritual leaders including Archbishop Aloysius Ambrozic, Rev. Robert Clune, Rev. Walter Farquharsan, inviting them to supper and worship with Vanier. Also includes copies of the Report prepared by Vanier and his accompaniment team on the place of Nouwen as priest in the community.

Visit of Jack and Susan Stroh - March 28, 1992

File consists of a memorandum from Nouwen's secretary, stating that Jack and Sue Stroh called and requested to meet with Nouwen for an hour on a weekend. In a letter to the Strohs, thanking them for a donation, Nouwen indicates the day will be March 28th.

Visit of Fred Bratman regarding Fundraising - April 10 - 11, 1992

File consists of a fax from Fred Bratman, regarding a meeting with Nouwen to discuss the fundraising project. The fax contained a list of subjects that they needed to cover in the meeting. Includes three copies of the fax. Also includes a copy of a fax from Bogle & Gates law firm concerning potential tax treatment of donations by US residents for projects in Canada.

Visit of Fr. Marcel Curinckx - May 20 - June 14, 1991

File consists of correspondence with Fr. Marcel Curinckx, a Belgian Priest, regarding a visit to L'Arche Daybreak. Includes correspondence between Nouwen and Joe Vorstermans regarding arrangements for Fr. Curinckx's visit. Many of the letters are in Dutch.

Visit of Fr. Marc Roseeuw and Greet Cassier, Belgium TV - June 14 - 20, 1991

File consists of correspondence and other material from Fr. Marc Roseeuw, regarding a visit to Daybreak, with his cousin Greet Cassier, to finish a film for Belgium TV. They wanted to get some footage of the liturgy and life in the house. The majority of the materials are in Dutch. Includes a memo from Nouwen to Daybreak discussing the event.

File consists of correspondence between Connie Ellis and Joe Vorstermans regarding a visit from Father Allegro and Father Jones to the Daybreak Community. Father Allegro and Father Jones are involved in starting a L'Arche community in Busking Ridge, New Jersey.

Visit of Dick Nahman - January 16, 1992

File consists of a note for Nouwen from his secretary stating that Dick Nahman called to make an appointment to meet with Nouwen. The appointment was set for January 16th. Annotations on the note indicate the appointment was okayed.

File consists of correspondence regarding a visit from Conrad Fischer to L'Arche Daybreak. Includes the letter from Fischer requesting to visit, Nouwen's response, and a memo from Nouwen to Sue Mosteller and Joe Vorstermans regarding the visit.

File consists of a memorandum from Kathy Christie to Green House regarding a visit by Chris Boucher to Daybreak. He would be staying at the Green House during his visit.

File consists of correspondence and other material from Kate Holt, regarding a visit to Daybreak by a group from Theatre and Company. Includes information about the theatre company and reviews of their last two shows. Also includes a thank-you letter from Stuart Scadron-Wattles.

Visit by Jeremy Horne - December 19 - 23, 1993

File consists of a fax from Jeremy Horne requesting a visit with Nouwen at L'Arche Daybreak to reflect on some decisions regarding his career. A letter of response from Nouwen states that he may stay at the Dayspring from December 19th to the 23rd.

Visit by Barb Martens and Bonnie Kinnuen - March 22 - 28, 1991 [textual

File consists of correspondence, with Barb Martens and Bonny Kinnuen, regarding a visit to L'Arche Daybreak. Barb and Bonny were both students at the Wertburg Theological Seminary. Includes letters from both Barb and Bonny expressing their desire to visit Daybreak and a copy of Nouwen's response offering them an opportunity to spend time in the community. Also includes a thank you note from Bonny.

Vicar of St. Mary's manuscript

File consists of 50 handwritten pages of prose and notes (including pasted in cuttings from the Bible) labelled "II. Vicar of St. Mary's", presumed to be an early working draft of the second chapter of Pett's thesis.

File consists of an essay by Nouwen titled "Verslag van een stage bij van den Bergh's en Jurgens Fabrieken N.V." [Report of an internship with Van den Bergh and Jurgens factories NV.]. This is a report of Nouwen's time as an intern at Unilever. Report includes drawings and pasted in diagrams of his work and the factory. His internship was conducted from July 1 - August 1, 1958.

Autograph letter from actress Eugénie Nau to [maybe Antoine], n.d., on letterhead «Théâtre Antoine. Régisseur général». The words «Régisseur général» were crossed out; above «Eugénie Nau». Asks for an appointment to discuss a project. NOTE: Eugénie Nau was the actress who created the role of the prostitute in the stage adaptation of La fille Elisa, by the Goncourt Brothers. The play was staged at the Théâtre Libre in 1890.

Envelope (empty) addressed to actress Blanche Deneige; letterhead: «Le Courrier de la presse ‘lit tout’, renseigne sur tout…» - stamp illegible.

Autograph telegraph from Larochelle to François de Curel, stamped «2 juil. 95». Read his open letter in Le Figaro. De Curel is too modest – he should accept the invitation to be staged again on the Théâtre Libre. For the next season, there will be a play by Paul Adam and another one by Barrès. Larochelle hopes that de Curel will join them.
Autograph bristol card from A. Antoine to [?], dated «Parais, le 21 8, 1908» - on letterhead «Théâtre national de l’Odéon – Direction». Is asking his correspondent to come on Thursday – it would be the opportunity to discuss the play Le roi Louis.

Printed letter (engraved autograph) from André Antoine to the director of the newspaper L’Écho de Paris , dated «Paris, le 27 mars 1891» -- signed by Antoine in blue ink. Following an article published in L’Écho, deemed injurious by Antoine, he is reacting in writing, while waiting for the newspaper to insert his letter. Antoine will circulate the letter widely. Antoine refutes the accusations made against him by journalist Henry Bauer – concerning his management of the Théâtre Libre, as well as his private life.

Asks Jules to send him as many tickets as possible for the last show, before 2 o’clock. He knows 40 or 50 people who would be very intested to come.

Autograph letter [photocopy] from Antoine to his brother Jules, dated «Camaret, mardi 190[5]» - on letterhead «Théâtre Antoine. Direction». Apologizes that Jules has to deal with all the problems. Antoine was simply trying to avoid legal troubles. Invites his brother to join him in Camaret.

Prospectus advertising the movie Les travailleurs de la mer , directed by Antoine. With a subscription form for the Ligue maritime française.

Autograph letter from Xavier Roux to [Antoine?], n.d. Congratulates his «cher ami» on his Légion d’honneur. Their old friend Becque would be very happy. Roux is delighted.

Autograph letter signed «Un vieil abonné» to [actress Blanche Deneige, according to a handwritten note], dated «Mardi 30 octobre 1906». The «vieil abonné» makes some recommendations to the actress regarding her interpretation of the role of Catherine. He suggests playing the young woman with more restraint.

Autograph carte-pneumatique from A-P Antoine to Pierre Decourcelle, dated «Lundi», stamped «1223». Was very touched by the warm welcome offered to him by Decourcelle. Will call Decourcelle tomorrow, to have more news.

Autograph letter from [signature illegible] to [A.-P. Antoine, according to a hand-written note], dated «Le 2 mai 1949». Letter announced that the step-mother of the recipient has been very ill and is now recovering. She is waiting for the second installment of the settlement, that was signed before the notary.
