Two books from the library of A.S.P. Woodhouse, with annotations by him, being "Poems" by John Keats, ed. Arlo Bates (Boston: Ginn & Co. 1896, Athenaeum Press Series ) and the "Faerie Queen" by Edmund Spenser, Volume II (London: J.M. Dent, 1914, Everymans Library).

David Dunlap Observatory Scrapbook

David Dunlap Observatory scrapbook was prepared in 1934 by Jessie Donalda Dunlap for her son as a Christmas gift. The scrapbook contains letters, printed articles, clippings and photographs documenting the David Dunlap Observatory from its initial conception through it's construction and opening.

The Scrapbook, which measures 22" x 38" when open, was donated by the Dunlap family to the David Dunlap Observatory in 1968 where it resided in the main entrance of the Administration Building until 2008.

Cody Family 1974 accession

Personal copies of books belonging to Dr. Henry John Cody:

  • Hardie, Martin and Warner Allen. "Our Italian Front", with the following material tipped in: a letter from Charles Hamilton Mitchell, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering, who was associated with the authors in Italy with British military intelligence during World War I, with a black and white photoprint of himself.

  • Pepper, George Wharton. "Philadephia Lawyer: an autobiography", with scattered paragraphs marked for special attention and the following material tipped in: Convocation programme for the conferring by the U of T of the degree of Doctor of Laws (honoris causa) on Senator Pepper, and a press clipping reviewing a similar autobiography, "Confessions of an Un-common Attorney", by Reginald L. Hines.

Cody Family 1977 accession

Henry John Cody's copy of W. S. Wallace's "A History of the University of Toronto, 1827-1927", with numerous items tipped or laid in, including press clippings, programmes, greeting cards, reports, notes, photographs, pamphlets, and song sheets.

Cody Family 1988 accession

Records of members of the Cody and Blackstock families, in particular Henry John Cody, his son Maurice Cody, and his second wife Barbara Blackstock Cody, but including some of her siblings and uncles. Included is correspondence (largely from ca. 1920-1950); records relating to World War I, including correspondence from soldiers at the Front, files on injured soldiers, along with pamphlets, press clippings and related material; press clippings, pamphlets and correspondence relating to World War II; undergraduate course notes and prize books; lecture notes for courses in church history and related subjects given in Wycliffe College; other notebooks, numerous scrapbooks, and publications relating to education, religion (including the late nineteenth century conflict between the Protestants and the Roman Catholic Church), reconstruction, the temperance movement, and other topics of interest to Dr. Cody; poetry; photographs; artifacts.

Woodhouse 2006 accession

Notebooks compiled by A.S.P. Woodhouse, primarily for teaching in English literaure at University College, University of Toronto. The emphasis is on 18th century literature (especially Romanticism) and the History of nineteenth century thought, in the undergraduate pass and honours program (largely the latter). Accompanying them is a selection of heavily annotated books by and about 19th century writers.

Huntsman 1978 accession

Accession consists of correspondence, research notes, manuscripts, ca. 1600 sample fish scales, maps, articles, offprints, newspaper clippings dealing with Huntsman's research in fishing. Also includes publications, photoprints, photographic negatives, aerial photographs, scrapbooks and some slides.

A variety of publications (scholarly communications, government documents, magazine articles) largely focused on fish, limnology, oceanography, studies of fisheries, ecology, and some miscellaneous topics. There are also several theses, exams, and zoological studies of mammals, marsupials, and insects. Some publications are collaborations with other authors in the collection, but all have been organized by their principal author, retaining their original organization.

Records from a research project by Dr. Robin Bagley, carried out at Sioux Lookout, Ontario between 1971 and 1974 as a part of the University of Toronto's Sioux Lookout Program. Included is financial data from the Department of Indian Affairs (1935-1966), summaries of Sioux Lookout reports (1952-1968), drafts of the research proposal and of the report, notes and computer generated report on the views of patients, maps, press clippings and publications..

Records assembled by Mary Hunter as project director and physician-in-charge of the "Clinical Assessment Survey, Sioux Lookout Project II: delivery of health care", beginning on 1 March 1973, with her report being submitted in 1975. This accession of records transferred from the Faculty of Information's Inforum Library contains the records of Winifred G. Barnstead, and document her work as the first Director of the Library School at the Ontario College of Education - the original incarnation of the Faculty of Information. The records document Barnstead's work in developing formalized training at the Library School during her tenure from 1928 to 1951. The records include correspondence with libraries and other library schools, UofT staff and faculty, drafts of manuscripts and articles written by Barnstead, School/Faculty informational bulletins, information on course programming and development, as well as some miscellaneous collected material relating generally to librarianship and library studies.
