The Bartered Bride / Bedrich Smetana

Item is an annotated copy of the piano-vocal score for the English version of the opera, translated by Rosa Newmarch. The score is autographed by Andrew MacMillan and annotated for a performance. The score includes sketches of set designs on the flyleaves.

Publications and addresses

This series documents only one of Davidson Black’s publications, but more of his addresses, in particular some he delivered in 1925 before his discovery of Peking Man, and the Croonian Lecture in December 1932 that cemented the acceptance of his research.

The Moth Book

File includes Urquhart's copy of The Moth Book: A Popular Guide to a Knowledge of the Moths of North America by W. J. Holland (published 1934 by Doubleday, Doran & Company, Inc.). Includes 48 colour plates. 479 pages. Front end page is inscribed "Frederick Urquhart, 66 Willow Ave Toronto". Book is in poor condition - binding fabric on spine is tearing, discolouration on end papers, some loose pages.

David Dunlap Observatory Scrapbook

David Dunlap Observatory scrapbook was prepared in 1934 by Jessie Donalda Dunlap for her son as a Christmas gift. The scrapbook contains letters, printed articles, clippings and photographs documenting the David Dunlap Observatory from its initial conception through it's construction and opening.

The Scrapbook, which measures 22" x 38" when open, was donated by the Dunlap family to the David Dunlap Observatory in 1968 where it resided in the main entrance of the Administration Building until 2008.

Tropic night suite / Olive Dungan

File consists of the scores and parts for "White jasmine" and "Enchantment" from the Tropic night suite. Short alterations in manuscript pinned to score, and annotations by Ida (Claudette) Culley to indicate pianos playing different notes.
