The second volume contains notes of the complete set of lectures delivered by Professor William John Alexander to fourth year honours students in English (October 1893 to April 1894).

Reprinted from the Knox College Monthly, n.d. *1892). annotations show how Hume would have changed the title page, added a qualifying phrase to the final sentence, and added what he calls 'Summary of results &c" without further explanation.
