Most of the records in this fonds document Harris' research in the history of Higher Education, a subject on which he published widely and gave numerous addresses. Some limited documentation provides researchers with some information on his contributions to several administrative posts. There are also early lecture files on English literature which document his early teaching career and some files relating to the researching and writing of the university history although most of those records are in the records of the University Historian. Finally there are original university records collected by Harris regarding the University of Toronto Faculty Association and its predecessors.

This finding aid has been compiled from inventories of the four accessions prepared by Harold Averill and Garron Wells. The fonds describes the personal records of Dr. Ernest McCulloch documenting his career as professor of medicine and administrator at the University of Toronto, and as medical researcher and author of over 200 articles mainly relating to his work on leukaemia and other blood related disorders. Arranged in 17 series, this fonds contains professional and personal correspondence, files relating to administrative activities at the University of Toronto and the Ontario Cancer Institute/Princess Margaret Hospital, subject files on external activities with various professional and academic organizations, editorial boards, etc., teaching materials including lecture notes and extensive research materials documenting experiments relating to cell growth in mice conducted during the 1960's . Also included are graphic materials documenting activities such as meetings and awards as well as illustrations for presentations and publications.

The arrangement of this accession reflects Prof. Schabas' long association with the Royal Conservatory of Music and is divided into two Sous Fonds:

A later accession (B2008-0031, now described as Series 10 within Sous-fonds 2) is an accrual to the Ezra Schabas fonds. While there are a few early records, most files document his activities after his retirement from the University of Toronto Faculty of Music, including: involvement in associations and music groups, publishing and research endeavours including his book Sir Ernest MacMillan: The Importance of Being Canadian; evaluation reports of music programs throughout Canada; performances and public appearances; travels; workshops and talks. The fonds has six main categories of materials: drafts and research notes for “Teach me Goodness, Truth and Understanding,” later published as "Teach me Goodness, Truth and Knowledge"; materials regarding the publication of “Collective Autonomy”; personal correspondence; reports from organizations including the Council of Ontario Universities and St. Michaels Collegium; Laurentian University materials; and reading notes and articles on a variety of philosophical topics. Some of the most notable topics covered in the reading notes include: the contemporary Catholic church, natural law, moral theology, Catholic education, higher education, Greek philosophy, and academic tenure.
