St. Stephen's Chapel - December 6, 1990

File consists of memos from Nouwen to some members of the Daybreak community, inviting them to the Annual Eucharist and Dinner of the Ansgar Foundation at St. Stephen's Chapel and the National Club in Toronto. Includes copies of the seating arrangement and notes back from Sue Mosteller and Nathan Ball suggesting who from the community should be invited to join them. Also includes a pamphlet in Dutch and a photograph of an alter with Dutch annotations on the back.

Photographs of Weiskel family

File consists of two photographs of the Weiskel family: Peter and Kate Sheehan, and their toddler son, Paul Alfonso Sheehan Weiskel, taken in autumn of the previous year.

Rev. Dehnert and wife (Australia) - October 26, 1990

File consists of a letter from Rev. Dehnert, requesting to do a retreat with Nouwen or Sue Mosteller at Daybreak. Includes a copy of Nouwen's outgoing response stating that their schedules do not permit time for a retreat. Annotations on the letter indicate a dinner was confirmed for October 26th. Also includes a photograph with annotations in French on the back.

File consists of two photographs of several L'Arche Daybreak community members in the process of painting a large poster for Nouwen's 60th birthday celebrations, including Bill Van Buren and Fr. Francis Maurice.

File consists of one letter, one greeting card, and one postcard from Joe and Stephanie Vorstermans. Letter from January 24, 1996 is from Stephanie Vorstermans and includes a photograph of their sons, Nick and Dan Vorstermans. Greeting card from February 5, 1996 and postcard from March 4, 1996 are from Joe Vorstermans. File includes letter from January 23, 1996, from Nouwen to the Clearness Committee on behalf of Joe Vorstermans, recommending Joe Vorstermans for a full-time role in the Daybreak community. Letter from Nouwen is two pages long and typed.

File consists of one letter from Dr. Amar Singh and Dr. Lim Swee Im, writing from Malaysia, expressing appreciation for Nouwen's writing, including two copies of prayer letters written by them in 1995.

Photographs of Nouwen's 60th birthday celebrations

File consists of sixty photographs of Nouwen, wearing a white sweater and dark pants, and other L'Arche Daybreak community members celebrating Nouwen's 60th birthday on January 24, 1992, at the original "Dayspring". The photographs were taken by various unknown photographers, and includes one partially complete roll, many with negatives. In total, there are fifty-two copy prints and nine unprinted negatives.

File consists of one letter from Teresa [Terri] Reid, expressing sympathy for a broken heart that Nouwen has suffered.

Letter from Lois J. Reichenbauch

File consists of one letter from Lois J. Reichenbauch, telling Nouwen about her mentally handicapped son, and asking for help and advice for his care.

Photographs of Nouwen at Catholic Women's League of Canada function

File consists of eight photographs of Nouwen, wearing a black suit, at a conference of the Catholic Women's League of Canada in Toronto, ON, on May 7, 1991; he is accompanied by several other L'Arche Daybreak community members including Bill Van Buren, Fr. Francis Maurice, Patsy Ramsay, and Lorenzo Sforza-Cesarini.

Letter from Peter Doll

File consists of one letter from Peter Doll, thanking Nouwen for sending a copy of a diary excerpt. Peter was having a difficult time coming to terms with the death of Adam Arnett, and he was thanking Nouwen for writing recollections about Adam. File also includes one photograph of Peter Doll with his girlfriend Catherine Roux.

Photographs of Israel

File consists of 59 slides featuring photographs taken around Israel. It is likely that Nouwen took these photographs while on a trip to Israel in the late 1950s. It does not appear as though Nouwen is in any of the photographs. Some photographs do feature individuals, but the photographs mostly feature landscapes and buildings, including photographs of Nazareth, Haifa, Judea mountains, and a kibbutz.
The slides are numbered, in Nouwen's hand, and included in the file is a list which matches the numbers and briefly describes the contents. List is in Dutch.

August 1985

File consists of correspondence and other material regarding Nouwen's participation in August Desert Wilderness, an event protesting nuclear testing, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Includes a copy of a letter from Jim Antal to Anne Bucher and a letter from Jim to Nouwen regarding the event. Nouwen gave a talk on August 6th. Also includes a pamphlet about the event, a postcard, and photograph of Jim and family.

Letter from Peter and Kate Weiskel

File consists of one typed New Year's form letter: noting that Peter, Kate, and Paul Weiskel moved from Boylston, MA to Shrewsbury, MA, and commenting on family members. Below the type is a handwritten note to Nouwen. Attached is a photo of their son Paul (age 5).
