Wooden Ukrainian cross

File consists of a wooden Ukrainian cross with a dedication on the back that says "For Lorenzo From Henri Aug 1994."

Jewelry

File includes three items of jewelry: 10K gold double-link charm bracelet; 10K gold charm displaying the old UTSC logo; ring (possibly silver) displaying UTSC logo. The bracelet and charm appear to be unworn, but the ring is heavily tarnished and has many scratches and other indicators of regular wear. N.B. these items are located in the office of the Head Librarian and may be accessed by request only.

Books

File contains 1 book, 2 booklets, 1 poster; 3 artifacts and 1 book in total. First material is a book called "Decade Book"; highlights years of history of Scarborough College from 1962-1972; book by William E. Beckel, first dean of Scarborough College; book in B&W. First artifact is a booklet titled "University of Toronto Scarborough College" ; shows original diagrams and photos of Scarborough College; outlines college's educational philosophy, design philosophy, site features, use of the site and project order; complete booklet in B&W; middle portion of booklet has been torn from binding; no date or markings on booklet. Second artifact is poster with title "U of T Co-op, University of Toronto Scarborough; outlines co-op programs in Management and Computer Science; poster is in colour; picture of student on computer; no date or markings on poster. Third artifact is a booklet, titled "Scarborough college, University of Toronto"; contains photos and diagrams of Scarborough College similar to ones included in first booklet; contains information about Scarborough College's beginning, the site, the concept and the building; no year or date on booklet; no markings; booklet in perfect condition.

Haitian tapestry file

File consists of a letter from Barbara Vajk as well as a Haitian tapestry and educational information pertaining to the tapestry that Vajk sent Nouwen as a gift.

Netting shuttles

Shuttles used to fix fishing nets. Used by David Murakami when he worked as a fisherman and Captain. Two are plastic, and the smaller is made of wood and still has some thread wound around it.

Cruise menus

File contains:
-Four booklet style menus from Victoria Cruises
-A fan menu from the M.S. Tijluwah.
-M.S. Ruys Chinese Dinner menu printed on lace handkerchief, November 7, 1964.
-M.S. Leverkusen Chinese Special Dish menu from December 25th, 1936, the Hamburg-Amerika Linie

Framed photographs from Nouwen's home

File consists of 22 photographs, most of which are framed. These photographs were kept by Nouwen in his home. Most depict Nouwen family members. Included in the file is a framed woven piece of fabric, which was stored with the photographs.

Royal Opera, Covent Garden : programme

File contains a souvenir, silk program from a gala performance by command of His Majesty the King in honour of the visit of the President of the French Republic. The concert featured the following soloists: Luisa Tetrazzini (Italian coloratura soprano), Caroline Hatchard (British soprano), John McCormack (Irish tenor), and Nellie Melba (Australian soprano).

St. Martin de Porres Award

File consists of the St. Martin de Porres Award bestowed to Nouwen by the Southern Dominicans for his spiritual writing and his work with the disabled.

COMISS award

File consists of the COMISS Award medal Nouwen received from the Council on Ministry in Specialized Settings for his outstanding contribution to the field of pastoral care, counseling and education.

Ronald McDonald House Charities Award of Excellence

File consists of the Ronald McDonald House Charities Award of Excellence awarded to Nouwen in September 1996 and received by Carl MacMillan and others from the L'Arche Daybreak in October on behalf of Nouwen, who had died within that time, including a Ronald McDonald House Charities commemorative bottle of Coca-Cola, dated October 12, 1996.

Christopher Award

File consists of the Christopher Award medallion awarded to Henri Nouwen as well as two copies of the award ceremony's program and a New York Times newspaper clipping about the award ceremony.

Honourary Doctorate degree, Catholic Theological Union

File consists of the framed Honourary Doctorate diploma Henri Nouwen received from the Catholic Theological Union (Chicago IL), a framed copy of the citation honouring Nouwen, copies of the convocation program, and one black and red velvet Honourary Doctorate hood.

Two briefcases

File consists of two suitcases, one brown (E118) and one black (E119) with a combination lock, owned by Nouwen in the course of his life.

Car keys and other keys

File consists of keys that were used by Henri Nouwen. This includes a set of keys for Nouwen's 1990 Honda, one set for an unidentified car, a Honda key attached to a ring with a wooden tag labelled "Cambridge" and other miscellaneous keys.

Rosary beads

File consists of three sets of rosary beads, one made of black beads with a metal cross; one made with brown beads with a wooden cross and one made with brown beads and a wooden cross with a carving of Jesus.
