Scrapbook of North American Fire Reports
The collection consists of a disassembled scrapbook of insurance underwriters' reports and records, fire reports, original news clippings and photographs, and other miscellaneous material on various North American conflagrations between 1904 and 1918. Of particular local interest are the pages (five in total) devoted to the Toronto fire of 1904. Among the other major North American fires represented in the scrapbook include those in the cities of Baltimore, Rochester, Halifax, Indianapolis, New Orleans, Three Rivers (Que.), Salem (Mass.), Campbelltown (NB), Houston and Atlanta, among others. The scrapbook appears to have been assembled by an underwriter from the firm of Royal Insurance Company of Liverpool.

The collection consists of a holograph journal (dated April 2 to May 25, 1844) kept by Purkiss and sent to her sister Fanny Lockyer in England. It was written during the Atlantic Ocean voyage made when she and her husband George emigrated to Canada. After arriving in Montreal, they settled in Toronto where they had one child, Mary, who married Robert Freeland.

This collection is largely comprised of correspondence concerned with printing, but letters are also of a personal nature. Correspondents include: Edward Lee Stone, Melbert B. Cary, Jr., E.W. Johnson, Carl Dair, Mary Ethel Somerville, along with carbon copies of a letter from Duff to Edward Lee Stowe, and two letters to Carl Dair. There is also one letter to Blake from William Colgate sending him a copy of Horace Walpole on Milton, along with a typed copy of Duff's reply. The collection also includes a visitors' book at Cooneen Cross, proofs of Duff's The Printer of the Jesuit Relations and a a carbon copy of Duff's Ben Franklin and the First Printing in Montreal.

Topics include civil liberties, Canadian policy vis-a-vis the United States, and the Annie Mae Aquash case. Papers were created in connection with The International Committee to Free South Vietnamese Political Prisoners from Detention, Torture and Death, which was a committee of the Canadian Council of Churches, and Voice of Women, a non-governmental organization, and the Canadian Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). They include correspondence, Vietnamese government publications, audio recordings of Toronto events, newspaper clippings, and printed matter.
