Hugh Morrison Collection of Edmund Blunden Papers
The collection consists of twenty-eight Edmund Blunden letters, cards and other manuscripts. Blunden was Hugh Morrison's tutor at Merton College, Oxford, and the correspondence reflects their friendship, including mutual acquaintances, friends and common interests.

It also includes drafts of his unpublished poems and prose, papers documenting his involvement with The Writers' Union of Canada, and correspondence from other writers in the Union and those whose work he edited.

The collection includes some photographs and a postcard of Pidduck and other soldiers, two World War I pay books belonging to Pidduck, a certificate of authorization to drive and a journal, documenting his life as a soldier in Canada, England and France in 1916. The journal outlines his daily life, where he chauffeured people to, what he did with his free time, to whom he spoke and where he moved to. He stops writing in December of 1916 after nearly a year of consistent entries.

The collection consists of manuscript drafts, production scripts and other production materials of radio plays and other CBC projects produced and directed by Pietropaolo. Among the writers represented in the collection include Timothy Findley, Carol Shields, Michael Ondaatje and George Elliot Clarke, among others. There is also a small sampling of Doris Lessing material, both manuscripts and correspondence, related to her 1985 Massey Lecture.

Consists of a small collection of manuscript journals and notebooks, including: journal of occurences at Long Portage,1870-1871; journal of occurence, 1884-1886; first part of holograph journal most likely written by Mr. MacLeod, 1885-1886; account books dealing chiefly with goods purchased by First Nations people by barter at New Post, 1900-1901; two volumes entitled "New Post-Fur Book-Outfit-1901," and "New Post-Provision blotter and transfers-Outfit 1901."
Hudson's Bay Company
The collection largely consists of letters written by Hughes to her mother describing her activities and giving information about her health and diabetic condition. The letters dating from August to November 1922 describe Hughes' experiences in Toronto where she was treated with insulin by F.G. Banting. The collection also contains photographs of Hughes and her family, dating from 1907 to 1951.

Louis Melzak Collection of Canadian Historical Documents
Consists of various documents, maps, letters and bound volumes acquired by Louis Melzak. The majority of the items relate to the Morris and McLean families which had been collected in a scrapbook by Edmund Morris. The letters and documents had been arranged by Morris in two groups: those of the Alexander McLean family and those of the Alexander Morris family. He included a brief outline of the history of the McLean family and an index of those documents.
The bound volumes include an early printer's pay-book, the diary of a British soldier series in Upper Canada and material relating to the settlement of the Eastern Townships of Quebec.

A collection of David Young's correspondence, literary manuscripts, business papers, and ephemera. Correspondence includes both business and personal matters from the late 1960s to 1995. The literary papers include multiple drafts and the galleys for his novels Incognito and Agent Provocateur, the notes and drafts for some of his most successful dramatic works, among them Fire, and Glenn, and many TV scripts. Also included are several of his adaptations of works by other authors for radio, such as Carol Shield's Swann, and Michael Ondaatje's In the Skin of a Lion and The English Patient. Drafts of works by other authors edited by Young and his own manuscripts edited by others, including Michael Ondaatje, are also included. The business papers relate to The Writer's Union of Canada, The Writers' Trust, The For/Words Foundation, Coach House Press and The Baffin Island Project. The ephemera documents the Toronto arts scene.

This latest accession of the Alberto Manguel Papers complements and builds on the existing Manguel Papers held at the Fisher Library (see MS Colls 00405, 00425, 00444, 00477, 00522, 00541). It includes manuscripts for City of Words (the 2007 Massey Lecture delivered by Manguel, and published by House of Anansi Press) and All Men Are Liars, a novel begun in English in the early 1990s but eventually completed, and published, in Spanish as Todos los hombres son mentirosos. It also includes French translations, including manuscripts and page proofs, of the above three books. As well, the collection consists of the manuscripts, primarily in English and Spanish, for Manguel’s numerous writing projects in 2008-09, and material from various projects, including the 2009 TVO-produced television series “Empire of the Words.” The collection also includes correspondence – including letters and notes from writers Isabel Huggan, Anne Michaels, Rohinton Mistry, P.K. Page and Susan Swan – literary jury work, manuscripts sent to Manguel for review or reading, and an extensive collection of antiquarian book catalogues collected by Manguel.

This accession of Alberto Manguel’s Papers complements and builds on the existing collections held at the Fisher Library. (Please MS Colls. 00405, 00425, 00444, 00477, 00522 and 00541.) It consists of manuscripts – in English, Spanish and French – for Manguel’s numerous writing projects, as well as the manuscript for his 2010 book A Reader on Reading, along with proofs and other materials related to the book. Among other works represented in this collection are an operatic libretto he composed to accompany music by Oscar Strasnoy titled Un retour (it premiered at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence in 2010), his novel All Men Are Liars, City of Words, Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey: A Biography, and catalogues and books on the artists Miquel Barceló and Glen Baxter.
