Erika Ritter Papers

The collection includes manuscript drafts of Ritter's literary output, including her plays, novels and various short pieces for newspapers, magazines and radio. It also includes correspondence.

2016 Accrual

The collection consists of three main items: posters, news and magazine clippings, and Radio Guide magazines. The posters are eclectic in taste, and focus on art, Indigenous rights, and advertisements. The Radio Guide material consists of supporting textual material like correspondence, reports, marketing strategies, and the magazines themselves. The news clippings come from a variety of sources.

2017 acquisition

The collection is made up of both audio/visual elements and textual. The majority of the audio visual portion of the collection is consumer tapes/disc and screening dubs of the films shown at the festival. Other files include press kits for select films. Series 7 is comprised of audio cassette recordings of festival workshops, titled “Independent Filmmaking”. The textual material offers a detailed look at how the festival operated, with application forms, tracking forms, correspondence, film promotional materials, actor resumes, expense sheets, booking venue information, workshop summaries and panelist information, grant writing, festival lists, and a wealth of other textual material. The last series is a collection of mostly festival posters.

Fonds consists of the professional records of filmmaker, producer, and media consultant Midi Onodera. Including film shorts and feature films that consist of raw footage, outs, and masters, director’s reel, music cues, sound files, waivers, contracts, scripts, production binders, press kits, budgets, copyright information, funding applications, distribution information, cast & crew lists, CV’s, and biographical information. The MAC series includes production and promotional videos for fundraising events and yearly trends. Also includes Film Festival catalogues, Art & Film magazines, zines, newspapers, press clippings, promotional photographs and posters, film stills, publicity photographs, continuity photographs, negatives, and slides.

The Lisa Balfour Bowen fonds contains many aspects of her long career. Her time as an arts reporter and writer is well represented, as many of the gallery programs collected from visits have been included. Her time as a political corresponded is also represented, as there is correspondence between her and those in the public eye. The inclusion of note and original typed articles reflects not only her writing ability and skill as a journalist, but the way in which the news industry used to publish and proof their articles.
The collection is broken into three series:

Fraser Family 1997 accession

Records documenting various members of the Fraser family including:

  • Zahn Family Chronicle and other family history items;
  • William H. Fraser's lecture notes in Spanish 1892-1905;
  • some family correspondence mainly belonging to either Donald T. Fraser and Frieda Fraser including Frieda Fraser's correspondence with her aunt and cousin in Germany;
  • sketches and paintings by Frieda Fraser;
  • family photographs.

This accession contains records dealing with the School of Graduate Studies awards section. The accession contains Ontario Graduate Scholarship ranked candidates forms, departmental ranks, results and recipient information. The accession also contains non-OGS awards for various departments. Also included is School of Graduate Studies council minutes (1985-1997).

Innis 2010 accession

Accession consists of the academic robe (doctorate) of Harold Adams Innis as well as the cap with tassel. Academic Robe is black with three dark blue velvet bands on the sleeves and velvet facing running down the front of the gown in the style of American academic gowns for doctoral degrees in philosophy. Monogram “H.A.I.” inside back collar. Black cloth academic cap with tassel size 7, with hand written label “Innis, H.A.” on inside.

Prof. Innis received his Doctorate in Philosophy (Ph.D) from the University of Chicago in 1920.

Halpenny 2000 accession

This accession documents Francess Halpenny’s activities as a student ; with the Women’s Division of the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II ; with amateur theatre groups ; as editor of the University of Toronto Press and the Dictionary of Canadian Biography ; as dean of the University of Toronto Faculty of Library and Information Science ; and as member of numerous academic and professional groups. It also documents Dr. Halpenny’s involvement in promoting social sciences and humanities generally and Canadian Studies in particular ; the honours and awards received throughout her career.

Clark family 1991 accession

Correspondence, course and laboratory notes, programmes, maps and photoprints documenting the academic and extra-curricular activities of William Herbert David Clark (BASc 1924) and Harriet Anna Laura Clark (BA 1935) while students at the University of Toronto in electrical engineering and household economics respectively, and memorabilia relating to the Class of 1895, Faculty of Arts that belonged to their father, Herbert. Included also are William's files on the Overseas Education League and on Thomas Richardson Loudon.
