Contains a few quotations, some discussion of reading material. Most of journal concerned with self evaluation (state of his soul), with a general air of spiritual conflict. Discussion of state and church, relationship between scripture, reason, and nature, differences between unity and uniformity, tolerance for beliefs of others, good works, religious excitement. One of main themes is his aversion to creeds and suspicion of orthodoxy.

Egerton Ryerson's Notebook

File contains a notebook belonging to Egerton Ryerson. The notebook is mostly empty. It contains a note titled, "Library and Philosophical Approaches for the University of Victoria College, Canada." It also contains notes about the value of his books left at the College in Cobourg and how to bring them to Toronto along with some other accounting.

This file also contains a small postcard of the S.S. Henry R. Mallory steamer labeled, "Christmas Cruise, 1934."
