Includes personal and professional correspondence; personal photographs; official documents; receipts and invoices; typescript drafts of books; newspaper articles, passports, cultural and political pursuits. Various highlighted items in his collection include many interesting photographs documenting the May Day Rallies of 1933-4 in Hamilton, Ontario-suggesting that he had an active role in organizing these demonstrations. There are also a number of newspaper clippings (primarily from The Daily Colonist (Victoria, B.C.), documenting such issues as communism, the war in Vietnam, Cyprus, various actions taken by the Canadian Government, and celebrities such as Marilyn Munroe and Princess Diana. A series of postcards document a trip taken by Sam Lawrence across Europe in 1936. Also featured is a collection of photographs of Lenin from 1897-1917 from a book of photographs entitled “Lenin” edited by Vladimir Il’ich and a collection of postcards documenting the Third Congress of Komintern in Russia, 1919. Lastly, there are two typescript books dedicated to Morisse and written by Georgoula Beikos entitled “The Greece That Fights: A Collection of Articles in Russian”, and a book of poems written by political prisoners on the Cypriot island of Gioura after the Greek civil war from 1945-1949.

B2012-0008: Records belonging to Dr. Ray Farquharson (1897-1965) document professional trips, meetings and awards. Included is correspondence, notes, agenda and memorabilia. Also included in this donation are records relating to Dr. Ray Farquharson collected by colleagues James Dauphinee and Bob Kerr and passed to the Farquharson family. Finally, there are a set of early letters belonging to Dr. Farquharson’s uncle, University of Toronto alumnus, Dr. Edgar Nesbitt Coutts (M.B. 1900). The letters mainly cover his time as part of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force during the First World War and afterwards in a Swiss sanatorium recovering from tuberculosis. The W. T. Hallam fonds consists of records documenting the family life and professional career of W. T. Hallam as an academic, editor, priest and diocesan bishop in the Church of England. Records include the correspondence of W. T. Hallam from 1903 to 1945, and some of the correspondence of his first wife Lillian Hallam; a notebook containing a record of W. T. Hallam’s sermons and addresses for 1908-1917; extensive notes for his sermons, addresses, and reviews; newspaper clippings related to both W. T. Hallam and Lillian Hallam; certificates, invitations, brochures, and pamphlets; 41 photographs from the 1920s showing various Anglican churches and rural life in Saskatchewan; and one illuminated manuscript presented to W. T. Hallam when he left his position as Principal of Emmanuel College in 1927. The fonds has been arranged into five series: personal files; correspondence; notes and addresses; academic career; and religious career.

This fonds consists of records documenting the founding, early activities, and 75th Anniversary of the Madawaska Club of Go Home Bay, Ontario. The records were acquired by the University of Toronto Archives over six accessions between 1974 and 1983.

B1974-0015: Consists of annual meetings and reports, charter and bylaws, shares and finances, land and titles records, transportation and maintenance, committee records; historical notes and club history, 1948. Photoprints and negatives of club activities at Go Home Bay; negatives showing maps of Go Home Bay and surrounding areas contained in albums. Photo albums were compiled and maintained by Professors C.A. Chant, G.R. Anderson and Grant Robertson.

B1975-0016: Consists of minutes books (1901 – 1953), register of shareholders, legal files re Madawaska Club vs Galbraith (1946 – 1948) and Joyce Rankin vs Madawaska Club (1964 – 1968), memorabilia, diaries, 75th anniversary celebrations, photographs.
