Covers family background through retirement, focussing on her career in public health nursing prior to appointment to the University of Toronto, the development of nursing education at University of Toronto from its beginnings as the Department of Public Health Nursing in the School of Hygiene through to the achievement of faculty status 1920-1972, faculty, curricula, teaching hospitals, degrees, registration of nurses, the roles played by Presidents Falconer, Cody and Smith, and other nursing educators, notably Edith Kathleen Russell, Nettie Douglas Fidler and M. Jean Wilson.
