File consists of an interview with Michael O'Laughlin interviewed by Rebecca Laird at O'Laughlin's home in Carlisle, MA. O'Laughlin is a theologian, spiritual director and author of 'Henri Nouwen: His Life and Vision'. O'Laughlin met Nouwen at Harvard University (Cambridge, MA) where he was Nouwen's course assistant for 'Introduction to Spiritual Life'. O'Laughlin recalls a Harvard mission to Haiti Nouwen organized, Nouwen's decision to go to L'Arche Trosly (France) and visiting Nouwen at L'Arche Daybreak (Richmond Hill, ON). Themes present in O'Laughlin's interview include migration, South America, education, Nouwen and academia, Nouwen as celebrity, Nouwen's sexuality, Jean Vanier, homosexuality and Nouwen's legacy. The interview is transcribed and is available in hard copy.
