Scope and content
In the first accrual of Coxeter’s papers (B2004-0024), lecture and articles that survived were filed by subject. It also seems Coxeter interfiled several lectures and drafts of articles in the same file so that files can contain several different but related works. Included in the files are transparencies for lectures, draft notes, manuscripts of articles or lectures, and occasionally correspondence and announcements.
A second small accrual (B2006-0023) is perhaps more significant in the fact that it contains Coxeter’s early pre-1930s works including his prize winning essays on Dimensional Analogy written at the age of 16. There are also a few other lectures and articles including “Lectures for Young People”.
It is difficult to determine what percentage of Coxeter’s academic output is represented in this series and many files lack specific identification as to what lecture or paper has been preserved. Nevertheless the files, arranged alphabetically by subject, reflect a large scope in terms of subject matter and give at least partial documentation of Coxeter’s thinking in various areas.
