Scope and content
File consists of one typed letter from Rev. John Wagner [Jr.], Pastor of Epworth Memorial United Methodist Church (South Bend, IN), stating that they have been approved for a L'Arche community and wondering if Nouwen could suggest a founding director. They also enquire if Nouwen would be available to lead a retreat. Don McNeill, of the Center for Social Concerns (University of Notre Dame), was copied on the letter.
File also contains a copy of a typed letter from Kathy Christie to Rev. John Wagner from January 10, 1996, responding to Wagner's letter in the absence of Nouwen. Christie tells Wagner that Nouwen will be available and willing to take part in the retreat in South Bend after he returns from his sabbatical in September, 1996.
