History
Fon L. Lim was born November 26, 1921, in Toisan, a village of Guangdong, China. At the age of sixteen, he arrived in America with his brother, Yot Lim (1924-2023). Upon their arrival, they met with their father, Quong Lim, and worked hard at his restaurant, building their foundation and education together as a united family. During this time, Fon studied hard and began training in photography as an intern at a well-known photo studio. With his dedication and passion for perfection, he became General Motor's professional portrait photographer for twenty-five years. As a strong, kind husband, father, and leader who always put family first, he opened New China, one of the then top Chinese restaurants in Michigan, with his brother. After many years of success, Fon retired and moved to Sugar Land, Texas, to raise, care, and share his loving devotion to his family. At the age of 84, Fon died in the comfort of his own home on Saturday, November 11, 2006.
