History
James Loney is a Canadian Peace Activist and founding member of Zacchaeus House, a home for people in need run by the Toronto Catholic Worker movement. In 2005 he was one of four hostages taken while working in Iraq with Christian Peacemaker Teams, an international organization set up to support peacekeeping efforts in conflict areas around the world. Loney and two others were freed in a military operation four months later, after their fellow hostage Tom Fox was killed. Loney has also spoken out regarding gay rights after facing discrimination for his own sexual orientation in 2006 while working for the Ontario Catholic Youth Leadership Camp.
