History
Dora Mavor Moore was a Canadian actress, drama teacher and director. Known as the grande dame of Canadian theatre, she almost solely created Canada's professional theatrical scene. While she is perhaps best remembered for her work with the New Play Society, she had founded the NPS in 1946 when she was already close to 60 years old and after a distinguished career as an actress and director. She died in 1979.
