Scope and content
In addition to his deep involvement in student politics at the campus and college level, Charles was a member of many other organizations. In first year he was a member of the History Students' Union. He was a member of the Hart House Rifle Club for the first three years (1988-1991) and of the Hart House Music Committee for the last three. In 1990-1991 he chaired the Noon-hour Concerts Sub-committee of the latter, and in fourth year was chair of the Record Room Subcommittee and a member of the Evening Concerts Subcommittee. He was one of the founders and was co-chair of the Coalition to Reduce Parking, which arose in 1990 in response to the University's proposal to place an underground parkade under the Back Campus at University College. He was president of the University of Toronto Diplomacy Club in 1991-1992 and was a judge of the World Debating Championships held on campus over the 1990 Christmas holidays.
These activities are documented by correspondence, notes, memoranda, reports, press clippings, and flyers and brochures.
