File consists of handwritten notes by Nouwen. The majority appear to be reading and lecture notes on the psychology of religion. There are a number of documents in this file that can be directly attributed to Nouwen's summer school course of 1967 on the Psychology of Religion, including a list of lecture titles and an assignment outline.
There is also evidence that some of the documents relate to another Pastoral Care course for priests offered during the summer of 1967 as well. These documents include lecture notes titled " Pastoral Counseling", "professional identity", "Pastoral care in a time of crisis", "Mental Health - Mental Illness", and "depression".
File also consists of extensive reading notes on Coe's Psychology of Religion, and a short collection of notes on mysticism. This file seems to include material related to a 1967 course on Pastoral Care for priests. Nouwen mentions in his Curriculum Vitae that he taught a course titled "Pastoral Psychology" during his years at Notre Dame. This may be the course to which he is referring. There are several handwritten notes listing nine probable seminarians or priests who participated in such a course. These names are not present on the class lists of either Psychology 121: "Special Topics": Psychology of Religion for 1967 nor are they listed on Nouwen's initial course Pastoral Care held in 1966.
