      History

The Redemptorists are a congregation of Catholic Priests and Brothers founded in 1732 by St. Alphonsus Liguori, a priest from Naples, Italy. Ligouri's goal was to bring the "Good News" to the most poor and abandoned.

The Redemptorist Province of Canada was founded on August 1, 2019, following the unification of the three Redemptorist provinces that used to be present in Canada : the English-speaking Edmonton-Toronto Province, the French-speaking Province of Ste-Anne-de-Beaupré, and the Ukrainian Catholic Redemptorist Province of Yorkton. As of 2026, their central office is located in Toronto.
