    Note

Note regarding correspondence from Simon McInnes:
“My father Graham McInnes met Mavis at the National Film Board when they both worked there in the mid 1940s. This is detailed in his book, One Man’s Documentary (U of Manitoba Press).
He and my mother, Joan, renewed their friendship when my father was posted as Canadian Ambassador to UNESCO in Paris in 1965. After my father died in 1970, my mother kept in touch with Mavis fairly regularly. My mother (1914-2002) lost touch with Mavis after she entered a retirement home in September 2000. “
