      History

      Charles Bruce Sissons (1879-1965) was born near Barrie and graduated from Victoria University in 1901. After studying at Oxford University, he returned to Victoria in 1909 to teach history, initially as a lecturer, later becoming an Associate Professor and then Professor Emeritus. Sissons was married to Anna Normart. He is well known for his biography of Egerton Ryerson, but he also published a history of Victoria University and a memoir.
