வரலாறு
Cameron Tolton is a noted academic and long-time Professor at Victoria Univeristy. He was born in Toronto in 1936, the second son of two teachers. After graduating from Humberside Collegiate with First Class Honours, he was awarded three Admissions Scholarships to Victoria College (Honours (B.A. 1958), where he earned a Woodrow Wilson Fellowship towards graduate study at Harvard University (A.M., 1958; Ph.D. 1965).
In 1964 he began his teaching career at Victoria as a Lecturer in French, progressing to Full Professor in 1983. While continuing in the Victoria Department of French, he began to teach Cinema Studies there, as well as at Innis College, in what became that College's Cinema Studies Program/Institute. Professor Tolton's passion for film led him to serve on the Board of Directors at the Toronto Film Society. He was also convenor for four Norman Jewison Lectures held at Victoria, featuring acclaimed film directors. Since retiring he has continued to lecture on Andre Gide and his contemporaries, and to introduce films at the Royal Ontario Museum and at the Toronto Film Society. He is married to Catherine Grise; they have a daughter, Caroline Tolton Paterson.
