Scope and content
Subseries consists of records documenting Nevitte’s activities as the leader of the Value Change team for the PRC-SSHRC Project on Trends (1998 – 1999). As team leader, Nevitte was responsible for curating and editing a collective work, consisting of papers prepared by his team members, that would provide an overview of the research on values and value change in Canada in 1999 and discuss its policy implications as well as areas for future research. The book was pushed in 2002 under the title Value Change and Governance in Canada and featured chapters by Nevitte, Richard Nadeau, Mebs Kanji, Lisa Young, and Neal J. Roese, and David Docherty.
The records in this series span from 1998 to 2000 and primarily reflect the planning and convening of conferences where team members could present their papers and receive constructive feedback from colleagues, scholars, and policy professionals in the field. Materials include correspondence, guest lists, meeting agendas, presentation transcripts, presentation reviews by guests. The records also reflect the project more broadly and include Nevitte’s contract with the Policy Research Secretariat, a project outline, financial reports, correspondence related to the manuscript, and chapter drafts by Nevitte, Young, and Nadeau.
