Subseries consists of course material for POL325 Politics and Governments of Developing Countries. Clarkson taught the course in 1968-1969, in collaboration with Professors Baker and Rowntree. The objective of the course was to familiarize students with the general problems facing the poor new states and the poor old states of the Third World: Africa, Asia and Latin America. Each area was treated separately each professor depending on their area of interest. Baker was responsible for Africa, Rowntree for Latin American, and Clarkson for South Asia. Each region was examined in terms of seven common problems: political culture and the political environment; the institutional framework; local politics and tradition behavior patterns; party systems and leadership; interest groups and articulation; public administration and governmental output; and political movements and ideologies. Records consist of lecture notes, but also include course outlines and information on the discussion groups.
