Scope and content
This book, originally sub-titled “Memoir of a mayoralty campaign”, was written in the first person, detailing lessons learned in his own run and the Toronto Mayor’s office in 1969. It offers an insiders analysis of the municipal politics in Toronto at the beginning of the reform movement. Clarkson proposes, among other things, that municipal politics is disorganized and unaccountable and that it should be re-organized along party lines. Records include drafts, notes, correspondence, research notes, clippings and reviews.
