Biographical history

Canadian writer & literary critic, William Arthur Deacon was born in Pembroke, Ontario in 1890 and grew up in Stanstead, Quebec. He received his early education in Stanstead and attended McGill & Victoria College, U of T. He was literary editor of Saturday Night,and the Globe& Mail from 1936 until his retirement in 1960. He was also author of a number of books including My Vision of Canada (1933) and th Four Jameses (1953).
