Biographical history

Prof. Beckel was born on April 11, 1926 and joined the University of Toronto as Assistant professor in 1956. He became Professor of Zoology and Dean of Science at Scarborough College in 1964 and Dean of Scarborough College in 1965. He left the University in 1968 to become VP Academic and Finance at University of Lethbridge, succeeding to President in 1972. In 1979 he was appointed President of Carleton University.
