Scope and content

This file contains multiple related works on the Book of Isaiah. The first set of five treatises is labeled A through E: the initial page of A is missing so it is unclear what the proper title would be, but each page is labeled “Isai A”; B is “Book Two – The Book of Emmanuel” and it is also labeled “Isai B”; C is “Third Book – Book of Oracles [?] [?] [?]”; D is “Book IV – The Book of the Consummation”; the first 8 pages of E are missing. There are two more treatises marked “2nd Isaiah”, titled “The Second D[?] of Isaiah – Chapters 40-66”, and “3 Isaiah”, titled “The Servant of [?]”. B is missing page 24. C appears to be incomplete. Pagination runs from C 1 to 19, then 8 folded pages of full size paper are inserted which cover Isaiah XIX : XX. The rest of C was found in order with these pages in place of pages 20-31, so it was assumed that this was an insertion made by Sheraton. Normal pagination ends at page C 34. Sheraton begins a new system of pagination on page C 35, which is marked C 35 / 1. Numbering then follows from page 2 to 25. Page 26 is marked 26 / C 60 and then numbering resumes the C scheme until it ends at C69. “The Servant of [?]” is missing page 24.

      Note

These independent works appear to be part of a larger one given the way Sheraton marked them within the pagination. Additionally, these pages were found in between two book covers of the same size as the paper. No trace of a spine remained, but it was assumed that the pages were at one point a part of a larger unit. The decision was made to include them within the same file in order to represent the cohesion of Sheraton’s thoughts.
