      History

      Born in Massachusetts, Col. Caldwell moved to Canada and became an officer in the Royal Canadian Dragoons. He taught at the College Militaire Royal in St. Johns, Quebec and became an authority on the history of the area. At the time of his death which took place in nova Scotia when he was 91, he had completed two histories of the Richelieu Valley, and a historical novel 'Etoffe du Pays' which is set in the same area during the period of the American Revolution.
