History
Mazo De La Roche (born Mazo Louise Roche) was a Canadian author, best known for her Jalna series of novels. De La Roche published her first story in 1902 in Munsey's Magazine. Her first book, Explorers of the Dawn, was published in 1922 and was followed by the novels Possession (1923) and Delight (1926). She also wrote plays and short stories. De La Roche’s novel Jalna became the recipient of a $10, 000 award when she submitted it to the American magazine Atlantic Monthly. It was published in 1927 and resulted in demands for sequels and prequels.
