Scope and content

This series documents primarily Prof. Eddie’s undergraduate and graduate education in the United States at the University of Minnesota (1957-1959) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) (1960-1963). As well there is a file on his attendance at the U.S. Army Language School where he studied Hungarian and graduated in 1957.
Files for the University of Minnesota include some student notes as an undergraduate studying economics as well as his B.Sc. diploma awarded in March, 1960. Files for his graduate studies at MIT include a file documenting his application, marks, fellowship awards (including the Woodrow Wilson Fellowship) as well class notes with Professors Rostow and Domar. Also included is a research paper entitled “A survey of agriculture and economic development in Hungary 1867-1913” (1962) which became the basis of his 1967 PhD thesis The role of agriculture in the economic development of Hungary, 1867-1913, a copy of which is also included in this series.
