History
Marshall Hryciuk was born in Hamilton, Ont., in 1951. He received his B.A in Philosophy from the University of Toronto in 1975, where he began to write poetry. He published his first poem in Acta Victoriana and his first book, fine wing: a butterfly cycle of lyrical poems in 1978. .His poetry has earned him the moniker the "King of Canadian Haiku." He is the author of several books of poetry, including the i love Lucy manuscript (1992), Persimmon Moons (1998), Charge of the Leit Motif (2003), Prose Karen (2007) and In Search of Tatiana (2013). He was president of Haiku Canada between 1992 and 1997. In 1982, he was one of the founders and editors of Inkstone, a magazine devoted to haiku. He currently resides in Toronto.
