History
Max Nemni (1935–2024) was an influential Canadian intellectual and editor of Cité Libre, a landmark Québécois political magazine. He was a prolific writer, contributing numerous articles to Cité Libre as well as other Canadian publications. Along with his wife Monique Nemni, he shared a close relationship with Pierre Elliott Trudeau. In 1995, Trudeau entrusted the Nemnis with his personal papers and diaries so they could write his biography. Together, the Nemnis authored two acclaimed volumes: Young Trudeau: Son of Quebec, Father of Canada, 1919–1944 (2006) and Trudeau Transformed: The Shaping of a Statesman, 1944–1965 (2011).
