        History

        George Ewan McCraney (1868-1921) was uncle (by marriage) to Elsinore Haultain. He took his B.A. from University of Toronto in 1892, his law degree in 1895. From 1895 to 1902 he practised law at Milton, Onto In 1902 he moved to Rosthern, Sask. where he practised law successfully, eventually moving his main office to Saskatoon. In 1906 he was
        elected Liberal M.P. for Rosthern and in 1909 M.P. for Saskatchewan. In 1911 he attended the coronation of King George V and Queen Mary as one of the House of Commons representatives. widely known and respected, although no longer active in politics, he was favoured for lieutenant-governor of Saskatchewan in 1921, but died before any appointment was made.

        In 1906 McCraney married Elizabeth Cowan, of Toronto, (sister to Margaret Dickson MacPherson who was Elsinore Haultain's mother). There were no children.
