Tape 20. Donor’s notes: very old tape
Side A: Rehearsal of instrumental music (perhaps for “Nostalgic Victory” opera) with background talking and noise – perhaps a mah jong game going on at the same time; then violin playing; pay pa [琵琶] playing; ee woo [二胡] playing; pay pa playing when tape ends. Probably my Dad playing all these instrumental solos, as he played all these instruments. Tape is old, perhaps from 1960’s (brand is “Compact Cassette” and not in the best of condition, and seems like an early tape based on the poor positioning of the tape recorder in relation to the music, and total tape length (both sides) is only 40 minutes.
Side B: pay pa [琵琶] playing (likely Dad); mom singing to violin accompaniment (likely Dad); Dad singing to yong kum [揚琴] and violin accompaniment; mom singing to violin accompaniment (likely Dad); then banjo playing (likely Dad) – some background tape noise, likely taped around the same time as Side A.
Notes on tape:
Side A: 《懷舊》, 《凱旋》
