        History

        Richard Pennington was born in Rugby, England, in 1904. He received his B.A. from the University of Birmingham in 1924 and a Library Diploma from the University of London in 1932. Pennington has had a varied career: he's been an author, librarian, a bibliographer and an amateur printer. He was the Head Librarian of the University of Queensland in Australia (1939-46) and a University Librarian at McGill University in Montreal (1947-64). When he retired from McGill in 1964, he moved to France and founded a private press, the Presse de l'Apricotier abattu.
