Aminur Rahim was born in Bangladesh in 1946. He completed undergraduate studies at Rajshahi University before relocating to Canada in 1973 for further education, earning a Master’s degree from the University of Waterloo, then a PhD in the Sociology of Education from the University of Toronto.
Rahim has held teaching appointments at the University of Zimbabwe in Harare, York University in Toronto, and Gaffargaon College in Bangladesh. He is currently a professor at the University of Fort Hare in Eastern Cape, South Africa.
He is published on issues of education and the formation of class, the sociology of education, identity politics, and multiculturalism and ethnicity.
