Scope and content
Series consists of Rev. Ward’s sermons, roughly from the beginning of his tenure as a professor at Wycliffe College to his death. Many have been dated, ostensibly by his own hand, and indicate if or when the sermon was sent to another individual for perusal; the early 1980s are represented most heavily.
Most sermons contain handwritten annotations and appendices in pencil and ink. Subjects include ecumenicalism, the Gospel, and the occasion of Rev. Billy Graham’s first large evangelistic campaign, held at Harringay stadium in England in the early 1980s.
Series contains no files, and is arranged chronologically, by date of sermon.
When a known date is unavailable, original order was followed. Additionally, the first item, “Psalm 104,” is typed on fragile onion skin paper, and appears to be the oldest; it has accordingly been filed first. Although a date is uncertain, the deterioration of the paper suggests that it is the oldest, and may pre-date 1964.
