History
The Department of Computer Science (DCS) was formally established in 1964, however its predecessors started much earlier. The University of Toronto Computation Centre was established in 1947, and renamed the Institute for Computer Science in 1962 (ICS). On July 1, 1964, the Department of Computer Science is officially formed, taking over the teaching and research responsibilities of the ICS.
