Scope and content
Short essay clarifying misconceptions regarding Schenker's theory. Theory does not reduce all pieces to the same thing; the interest lies in the middleground which shows how great works can show infinite variety stemming from the same material. Also states that graphs should be read from background to foreground, not vice versa, and that the back- to foreground motion is not a temporal process. One handwritten sheet drafting a sentence from the explanation of the Ursatz; no edits otherwise.
